Films with a Dutch Sign Language interpreter

On Monday 28 October, there are three film screenings for various ages with an interpreter of Dutch Sign Language present. These are Tummy Tom and the Lost Teddy Bear, Superkrachten voor je hoofd and The Book of Everything. Coming to one of the screenings below? Order a ticket via the order button, and send an email to toegankelijkheid@cinekid.nl stating your name and the film title. The interpreter will then meet you at the festival entrance.

Tummy Tom and the Lost Teddy Bear (3+)

When Tummy Tom’s sweetest cuddly toy disappears, his friend Puss Mouse comes to the rescue. They set off on a merry quest full of adventures. A bed turns into a trampoline and the washing line into a circus high-wire. They discover new, exciting places and meet new friends. And at the end of the day, everything lands on its feet!

Superkrachten voor je hoofd (6+)

Insecure Lev, who has trouble walking, thinks he can learn a lot from his big superhero, Healix. To meet his hero at Comic Con is his greatest wish. But his parents see danger everywhere. Luckily, Lev’s headstrong grandma takes him to the event. But more than this, she teaches him during a series of crazy adventures what his own superpower is.

The Book of Everything (9+)

In this film version of the children’s book by Guus Kuijer, Thomas (9), his teenage sister Margot and their mother are afraid of the wrath of God. But even more afraid of the sermons and beatings from their fanatically religious father and husband. With a little help from Jesus, neighbours and his imagination, Thomas learns to overcome his fear. Because happiness starts with no longer having to be afraid.

Benjamin Bat (6+)

You won’t believe it, but Benjamin Bat, the hero of this animation, is afraid of the dark. That's pretty awkward for an animal that normally lives in the dark. During the day, he risks his life scavenging for food as he needs to watch out for the sun and scary birds. To complicate matters even further: he falls in love with a tropical songbird which makes things more exciting!

Fox and Hare Save the Forest (AL / 5+)

Why is there suddenly a lake in the middle of the woods? And where did Owl go? Fox and Hare don’t hesitate to investigate in this adventurous, funny animation. On route, they meet two nutty rats and a beaver with an overinflated ego. Have these newcomers and their self-built warren got something to do with owl’s disappearance?

The Major Tones (12+)

During the winter holidays, fourteen-year-old Ana’s arm suddenly starts to make rhythmic sounds. Together with her best friend, she puts these beats to music. When a soldier in the city tells her that they are probably morse code signals, Ana tries to decode the messages. Who are they coming from? And why have they chosen the metal plate in her arm as an antenna?

Ghost Cat Anzu (10+)

Eleven-year-old Karin is left by her father with her grandfather, a monk in a temple that is also home to Anzu, an extraterrestrial cat who rides a scooter and sometimes is in a really bad mood. The temple cat sees the child as an intruder. But when she tells him about her deceased mother, they form a bond. Together, they find the way to the hereafter.

Lars is LOL (8+)

After the summer holidays, Amanda – who is in Group 8 at school – is given an unusual assignment. She is to become a buddy for Lars who has Down Syndrome. It’s quite a challenge. She is scared the other girls and the cute boy Adam will think it’s weird, yet, at the same time, a friendship develops with Lars. The story in this candid, energetic film full of emotions is really moving.

Wow! Een bericht uit de ruimte (6+)

Billie is 11 years old and wants to be an astronaut like her mother. She builds a radio telescope with Dino who’s also obsessed with space and aliens. They receive strange signals from outer space, but nobody believes them. When they investigate, they are accidentally launched into space and then the real adventure begins!
