Thomas (9) tries to show his fanatically religious father that happiness is part of life too.
In this film version of the children’s book by Guus Kuijer, Thomas (9), his teenage sister Margot and their mother are afraid of the wrath of God. But even more afraid of the sermons and beatings from their fanatically religious father and husband. With a little help from Jesus, neighbours and his imagination, Thomas learns to overcome his fear. Because happiness starts with no longer having to be afraid.
