Creative visionary Tamara Shogaolu will discuss Glitching the Real – Games That Reconnect Us
Cinekid for Professionals is thrilled to invite you to the second keynote of this year’s Industry Forum, Glitching the Real: Games That Reconnect Us, featuring Emmy Award-winning director and innovative storyteller, Tamara Shogaolu. Renowned for her distinctive approach to storytelling, Tamara will share her insights on how gaming can transcend simple entertainment, fostering reconnection with real-world communities and amplifying marginalised voices.
Her latest work, Anouschka, is an animated mixed reality (XR) experience inspired by the ethos of Black Girl Magic, celebrating Black girls globally. This interactive story follows a teenager from Amsterdam’s Bijlmermeer neighbourhood on a magical journey of self-discovery. As she travels through time to lift a family curse, she uncovers the truth about her ancestors, her magical powers, and her heritage. Anoushka is a part of the lineup of Cinekid MediaLab this year.
Tamara will also be one of 30 expert speakers participating in the Industry Forum roundtables. Themes this year will include audience design strategies, reimagining cinema spaces, and body image in children's films among others. Case studies from films, games, and immersive projects will provide deeper insights into the creators behind the works showcased at Cinekid. With table talks and networking opportunities, the Cinekid Industry Forum 2024 encourages creators to push boundaries while staying true to their vision.
The full programme will be unveiled in mid-October.
