Masterclass Sound Design

Masterclass Sound Design

9+18 October12:30 - 14:00 / 15:00 - 16:30
The better the sounds in a film, the more real it feels. Did you know that many film sounds are recorded in a special studio? In this masterclass you’ll learn all about it from Daimo da Costa. As a foley artist, he makes films, like Panda Bear in Africa, come alive with sound, using the most unexpected tools. The sound of a prowling tiger? He recreates it with a glove and some paperclips. And in his studio, there’s always a bunch of celery lying around. What sound do you think that makes? You’ll find out when you create sounds for a scene from Panda Bear in Africa.

You’ll get hands-on with paper animation and spoken word. With the guidance of wordsmith Rellie Telg, you’ll learn how to perform your story beautifully. The result: your very own short animated film with spoken word. What story will you tell?

Masterclass Scenario + Regie

Masterclass Scenario + Regie

9+20 October12:30 - 14:00 / 15:00 - 16:30
A film isn’t a film without a story. What’s it about? Who are the characters? And what happens to them? All of that and much more can be found in the script. The script tells everyone working on the film exactly what needs to happen. But how do you come up with a good story? What really works, and what should you definitely avoid? You’ll learn all about it in this masterclass with screenwriter Eveline Hagenbeek and director Janne Schmidt, who both worked on the new film King of the Wanderers. They’ll share their best tips for writing your own script, which will then be brought to life by real actors!

Leticia van Neerven, one of the makers of the short animated film Down in the Dumps, will guide you through the entire process. Together you’ll watch her film, along with a few classic animation and stop-motion films. After that, it’s your turn: you’ll get to create your very own stop-motion animation scene using clay.

Toddlers' Workshops

The Toddlers’ Workshops at Cinekid Festival gives toddlers their very first film and cinema experience. Be sure to join! The workshop starts off with an inspiring screening of one or more episodes of a new toddlers’ series or short. In the subsequent hands-on section, you’ll create your own narrative by exploring what you’ve seen, experimenting with a green screen, and playing with light. Toddlers will love discovering how films are made! Our 1.25-hour Toddlers’ Workshop is open to children aged between 3 and 6 years.

Masterclasses

Create special effects. Practise voice acting. Write a scenario. Join an acting lesson given by real masters of the art. The Cinekid Masterclasses give children a real behind-the-scenes film experience. They’ll get hands-on and learn the tricks of the trade from directors, actors, and other filmmakers. At the end of the masterclass, children will present their creations on the big screen or in front of an audience of other children. The 1.5-hour masterclasses are open to children aged 6 years and above.
