About the Junior Crew

The Junior Crew adds to the fun, excitement, and thrill of Cinekid Festival! Anyone aged between 7 and 12 years who loves watching films and series and playing the latest games can join. They help to put together the festival programme and they are present at special moments during the festival, such as the opening.

The refusers

‘Dirty,’ ‘a failure’, ‘broken.’ The things people say about an old mattress, a home-made painting and a broken mirror are really not nice. But in this dazzling animated mini musical about self-respect, they sing to each other around the waste container to raise their spirits. With a backing group of garbage bags and discarded chewing gum and an old newspaper that dances with the wind.

Cowboy Kevin

Witty, profound stop-motion animation about Cowboy Kevin and his horse called Horse. They go off together in search of a lady – ‘my lady’ – who Cowboy Kevin sent a love letter to. This turns into a great journey that makes the bond between them even stronger, until they reach their destination. Where Kevin finds out something very special about love.

Filante

Every night, Paulette observes the same shooting star in the sky. She makes her deepest wish: to find her pet rat, who's mysteriously gone missing. Days go by, but her pet doesn't return. Paulette decides to find out what's wrong with her shooting star.

Goose quest

Goose's favourite pet, her hamster, dies. But her grandma knows there’s a 'restart button' in town that can bring things back to life. So Goose goes looking for it. Along the way she meets strange characters and unfriendly security guards, but finally she finds what she’s looking for. In this funny animation, which looks and sounds like an 8-bit video game, Goose learns an important life lesson.

Lulina and the moon

Lulina and the moon

Lulina cries by the sea. She is scared of the changes affecting her family. When she ends up in this fabulous animation on the moon, she decides to draw her biggest fears on that huge, empty space. To her surprise, the creepy things she thought up in her head turn out to not be so monstrous in real life.

Nelson the piglet

Nelson is a super cute, brilliant miniature pig from Werkendam. However, the friendship with his bestie comes under pressure when Brandon is called a pig at school because of Nelson. A drily comedic documentary – narrated by Nelson – about how he unexpectedly and ‘entirely justifiably’ became world famous. Featuring the voice of Dutch historian and TV personality Maarten van Rossem.

Ask the wind

Iranian Farah has been living at an asylum seekers’ centre in the Netherlands for three years, where she hangs out with her best friend. Her parents argue a lot about their lack of a home. Farah discovers her mother plans to change the situation. But what does Farah want? A story about friendship in a cold landscape where wind and fire keep cropping up.
