In this five part series filmmakers Martijn Blekendaal and Finbarr Wilbrink investigate unsolved mysterious around contemporary art in a playful way. Their quest for answers leads to bigger questions about identity, friendship, courage and daring to be yourself.
In this series, every episode centers another at mystery. Who is Banksy? Who was hiding behind the name Richard Mutt? Why did Joseph Beuys lie about his wartime past? Why did the portrait of James Hunter by Alice Neel remain unfinished? And what do the final works of Jean-Michel Basquiat tell us about his life? Via these mysteries, children aged 9+ are invited to contemplate themes like identity, belonging, honesty, courage and self expression.
This series shows that art doesn't just help us ask questions about the past, but also about ourselves and the world in which we live.
In collaboration with our neighbours at KinderKunstMuseum(KiMu), there will be a special workshop preceding the screening at Thursday 15 October.
