Thirteen-year-old Bianca is having, to put it mildly, a rotten summer. She feels misunderstood by her parents. Her mother seems focused only on her little brother, who has a heart condition, and her father and his new girlfriend label Bianca as "unmanageable." She herself disagrees completely. Then one afternoon, her favorite actress Billie King suddenly turns up in her living room, turning everything upside down and sending emotions running high.
