Arco

Can we still save Earth? This futuristic film takes you to the year 3000, where climate change and new technologies have taken over the world. When Arco steals the time travel suit of his older sister, he accidentally ends up in the year 2075. There he meets young Iris, who helps him return to the future, while comical evil triplets try to sabotage their plans. This hopeful science fiction story recalls the worlds of Miyazaki (director of Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro), who also weaves nature and technology together with colour and magic. Arco is a breathtaking adventure that just might become a modern classic!

Mary Anning

Discover girl power in the nineteenth century! World-famous British paleontologist Mary Anning (1799–1847) does what was considered impossible in her time: as a young girl she discovers new species and fossils, defying the expectations of the suffocating environment in which she grew up. Mary Anning is directed by Swiss filmmaker Marcel Barelli. Several of his short films have already been shown at previous editions of Cinekid Festival, and now he returns with his very first feature film! He tells an empowering and inspiring true story about standing up for your rights and questioning the system that confines you. Thanks to its punk rock soundtrack, everyone is guaranteed to fall in love with this cool, early example of women’s resistance.
