Roc & Lola

With Roc and Lola, we want to bring together the adventurous world of wild nature and the comforting feeling of friendship. A balloon and a hedgehog should be incompatible, but in reality, they live their best life together: wondering, learning, and caring for each other in the fantastic forest.

The forest can be scary and dangerous, but with Roc’s knowledge and Lola’s courage, we learn that nothing is scary if you spend time listening and learning. Our protagonists will encounter a variety of creatures that at first glance seem frightening but most of the time they just need some help and they have amazing stories to tell! We want Roc and Lola to be a visible example that diversity is an asset and that a respectful curiosity can be the perfect way to approach anything.

Visually we want to recreate this feeling by combining a smooth 3D animation with a rough and magical 2D paintbrush. We took inspiration from acclaimed TV Series like Hilda and renowned French animation visuals. We have already achieved this look in our award-winning film: Venice: The Most Ancient City of the Future. We want to create an environment that is directly inspired by a child's imagination. The forest is full of bright and vivid colors, with tons of details and funny characters, that seem to originate directly from a child's drawings. With this style, we want to create an immersive and detailed world that can foster the imagination and curiosity of all the spectators.

ANDREA GIRO is an Italian Director, author, animation supervisor and producer from Turin Piedmont. He comes from a long experience as a character animator in the international film industry and had the chance to work on important productions all over the world, ranging from TV shows, commercials and feature films.

Among other projects he worked for top grossing movies like Despicable me 3, The secret life of Pets, Spongebob out of water and to TV shows like Babar, Minuscule season 2, Taratabong, Birds band … He had the chance to work for some of the most important companies in the film industry of the world, like Illumination Mac Guff, MPC, Axis Studios, Puppetworks Animation, DIGIC Pictures, Iloura among others.
