Cinekid & COVID-19

The exceptional health and safety measures put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 are having an overpowering impact on the film industry worldwide. Depending on different decisions by the governments, festivals and get-to-gathers were cancelled, cinemas were closed, shoots were postponed and many production, distribution and sales companies have been obliged to move to teleworking. We are slowly moving to more open societies again, albeit in limited ways. This has a profound impact on the organization and structure of our festival in October.

The value of festivals is not only participation, meeting people, sharing knowledge, scripts that are traded or co-productions that are coming together; it is also the value of generating attention for relevant cinema and word of mouth for new productions. Our professionals program will provide a platform for children’s media and film professionals to discuss their challenges and new plans in a post-pandemic landscape.

We will keep you informed and send you festival updates. Please subscribe to our newsletter.

We recommend everyone to register film titles before July 1 and contact our program department ( in case of delay or other questions considering the registration. Cinekid will look at how we can facilitate film productions with a delay so that they can be screened at the festival this year.

We will personally notify makers and creators if major changes may occur to the festival programming that affects the film submitted.

This year’s final deadlines are:
