We invite artist, designers, studios and agencies to submit interactive art and design projects for the upcoming MediaLab, as subject for keynote presentations at our annual Industry Forum (part of Cinekid for Professionals) and for consideration of the Cinekid Media Awards.
The call offers an opportunity to become part of the festival and reach out to an international audience and network of media experts specialized in children’s projects.
Submissions for the 2020 Cinekid Festival digital culture programme and the 2020 Cinekid Media Awards are accepted until June 15th, 2020.
The general categories are Interactive Installations, Digital Design, Game & App Design, Digital Media Art, Hybrid Art. If you have any question regarding your possible submission, and how it would fit these categories, feel free to contact Cinekid.
Submissions should be recently completed, and/or in development to be completed in October, projects of excellent artistic quality and befitting the festivals young audience. Cinekid welcomes submissions from international artists, designers, students and collectives. Cinekid prefers projects that, if selected, would be shown for the first time in The Netherlands.
The Cinekid Festival is one of the world’s oldest and most respected film, television and digital culture festivals for children and youngsters. Winners are awarded the coveted Cinekid Lion Media Award and an opportunity to showcase their project in the MediaLab at the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam.
The 34th edition of the festival will take place in Amsterdam from October 10th - 16th, 2020. Cinekid presents the MediaLab, a 1200 m2 exhibition with interactive artworks and digital projects, an international professionals programme and an extensive programme of workshops and masterclasses. Additionally, the festival presents MediaLab projects throughout the country on our Cinekid On Tour locations in several cities.
The festival yearly welcomes 65.000 visitors, 600international professionals including partner festivals, producers, broadcasters, distributors, agents, curators and artists, and garners a wide variety of national and international media attention.
The MediaLab focuses on interactive and digital art projects and designs about contemporary visual culture and digital technologies. The MediaLab is for children ages 4-14 and all works presented in it should fit perfectly their experience and outlook on the world.
All selected projects are considered for the Cinekid Media Awards. A selection of artists and designers will be invited as guest of the festival and as keynote speakers at the international Cinekid for Professionals programme.
