Entries Cinekid Festival 2023

Cinekid is accepting entries again! Make sure to send us your children’s media productions for Cinekid Festival and Cinekid for Professionals.

On this page, you will find an overview of all entry opportunities for Cinekid Festival.  Our entry opportunities include a wide range of programmes and competitions for talents, experienced makers and professionals.

Who can submit?

In light of Cinekid’s mission to amaze, entertain, connect and contribute to the development of children into independent, conscious and well-thinking global citizens, we welcome submissions from filmmakers and industry professionals of all nationalities who support our mission and values. We look forward to receiving and considering films and projects from all over the world, and to connecting with artists and professionals from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

Film & Series

Submissions are now open! Submit your project here

Films and series can enter the following competitions:  Best Children's Film Competition, Best Dutch Children's Film Competition, Best International Short Film Competition, Best Dutch Short Film Competition and Best Dutch Series Competition. 

We are looking for innovative and high-quality films and episodic productions for children up to 14 years of age, with a preference for those that tackle social issues or stimulate creative thinking. Please carefully read our selection criteria and guidelines before submitting your work.

International Episodic Productions: 
This year, we are also seeking international high-quality episodic productions that are interested in having their international premiere at Cinekid Festival 2023. If you have a production that you think would be a good fit for the festival, please don't hesitate to contact us.

ScreeningClub

The submissions are now open. Submit your work here.

The ScreeningClub is Cinekid for Professionals' digital video library, offering more than 400 recent children’s productions every year that can be accessed during the festival. The productions come from all over the world, and include short or feature films, episodic content, youth documentaries, animation and live-action. They are curated by Cinekid and are suitable for children from 4 to 14 years old, have been finished in 2022/2023 and include English subtitles or are English spoken. 

Why submit to the ScreeningClub? 
Submitting your project to the ScreeningClub offers a number of benefits for right holders. The platform is designed to connect your production with international buyers, sales agents, programmers and distributors, who can screen your work in a secure environment for programming or acquisition purposes. By being part of the ScreeningClub, you also get access to Cinekid's network of professionals, which can help you gain exposure and make important industry connections. 

What kind of productions can I submit? 
Cinekid welcomes short or feature films, episodic content, youth documentaries, animation and live-action. The productions should be suitable for children from 4 to 14 years old, must be finished in 2022/2023 and include English subtitles or be English spoken. If projects were already presented in the ScreeningClub before, they cannot be submitted again.

Cinekid LABs

Cinekid Script LAB

Submissions are now open! Submit your project here.

For the Cinekid Script LAB, we accept series and feature film projects in development that are either live-action, animation or documentary and can benefit of a tailor-made trajectory under the guidance of specialized coaches. Entry regulations of the Cinekid Script LAB can be found on this page.

Junior Co-production Market

Junior Co-production Market

Submissions for the Junior Co-production Market are now open! Submit your project here

We accept feature films and episodic content (live-action, animation and documentary) in development, as well as works-in-progress from all over the world. During the Junior Co-production Market, two awards will be handed out: the Eurimages Co-production Development Award (€20.000) and the Filmmore Post-production Award (€5.000).

Cinekid invites artists, designers, studios and agencies to submit games and apps for the upcoming MediaLab and for consideration of the Cinekid Game & App Award. A selection of entries will receive the opportunity to showcase their projects at Cinekid Festival. The selection will be made by a professional panel and from this selection, an all-kids jury will select the winning entry.

Open Call MediaLab

Cinekid and the Amarte Foundation are looking for creators who want to produce a new immersive and interactive new media work for Cinekid MediaLab 2023. We will offer one creator or a creators collective an amount of €12.000 (including fee, material, technical and presentation costs) to develop an interactive work for the MediaLab in collaboration with the Cinekid New Media team. 

The project will be presented in the MediaLab at the main location Amsterdam Noord during Cinekid Festival (autumn break). The creator will participate in creating a workshop during the MediaLab based on the curated work and will take part in one or more activities organized by the industry leg of Cinekid, Cinekid for Professionals.

A committee consisting of representatives of both Amarte and Cinekid will select one project. There may also be an interview with the nominees about their submitted work. The  selection announcement will take place within 4 weeks after the closing of the call.
