2023-01-16 14:25:00

Five projects from four European countries are selected for the latest edition of Cinekid’s essential talent development Lab!

Five projects from four European countries are selected for the latest edition of Cinekid’s essential talent development Lab for filmmakers with projects in advanced development  and targeted at young audiences. Cinekid’s Directors LAB continues to underline one of the festival’s prime objectives to help enable the highest quality international content for children.

The LAB will take place in April 2023 in Amsterdam with this year’s cohort comprising a fabulous mix of talented newcomers and award-winning, established directors.

Two former Script LAB projects are returning for Cinekid Directors LAB: the Latvian Boom! (Cinekid Script LAB 2020-2021) and the Norwegian Uncle Egg - Searching for a Dad (Cinekid Script LAB 2019-2020). The latter was also part of Cinekid’s Junior Co-production Market in 2021, and director Torfinn Iversen was selected for Cinekid’s Best Children’s Film Competition with his previous feature Oskar’s Amerika.

The selection of projects is completed by Adventureland, The Arrow (Iceland), King of the Wanderers (The Netherlands) and One Brother Too Many (Norway).

Head of Cinekid for Professionals Sara Juričić comments: “It’s fantastic to see such strong and innovative directors working on content for young audiences coming to Cinekid Directors LAB to strengthen and finesse their projects. We are looking forward to being the final stop before they start shooting their beautiful new films, and we are happy to be collaborating with these talents during an inspiring and intense workshop in Amsterdam in April. It’s also great to welcome so many talented female filmmakers and producers to the Lab this year.”
