Children across The Netherlands have made their voices heard: Captain Nova was voted Best Children’s Film by the audience too! And Family Fox on Expedition wins Best Dutch Children’s Film.
Today, the 2021 Cinekid Audience Awards were announced. The winners were selected by children who visited the festival and cast their votes for their favourite movies and series.
After Captain Nova had already received two Cinekid Lions last week from the festival jury (Best Children’s Film and Best Dutch Children’s Film), the exciting science-fiction film clinched yet another award. This year, visitors in Amsterdam and eight other Cinekid locations across the country proclaimed Captain Nova Best Children’s Film 2021. Family movie Family Fox on Expedition was crowned as the audience favourite in the Best Dutch Children’s Film competition.
This year, Cinekid once more organised the successful schools programme, called the National Audience Award. From the Cinekid short film and series programme, a selection was compiled and screened within an educational context for primary school children all through the Netherlands. The selected primary school classes voted for the winners of the National Audience Award. This year, 25 schools participated in this National Audience Award.
The brand-new children’s series Rintje 2, having its world première at the Cinekid Festival last week, was proclaimed the winner by the juniors of the primary schools. The short documentary Julieta & the Turtles in the Plastic Soup, addressing issues involving ocean waste, was granted the Cinekid Lion by the senior pupils.
With this announcement, the Cinekid Festival is almost wrapped up. The 35th edition of Cinekid at the new location in Amsterdam Noord was very successful, partly owing to intensive cooperation with the DAT!school, United Painting, Noordmakers, Winkelcentrum Boven ’t IJ and Verdedig Noord. Furthermore, we also presented, for the first time, a 360 degrees programme in Artis, the Bijlmerpark Theater in Zuidoost and at 35 locations nationwide.
