Winners Film & TV Awards 2020 revealed

Calamity, Jackie and Oopjen, The Crossing, Amira and Man Up! were the big winners at Cinekid 2020, the world’s largest children’s film festival.

The French-Danish animated feature Calamity, A Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary by Rémi Chayé won the Cinekid Lion for Best Children’s Film. Jackie and Oopjen by Annemarie van de Mond was awarded the Cinekid Lion Jury Award for Best Dutch Children’s Film. The film’s main actors received the award during one of the 14 livestream events.
Man Up! by Benjamin Parent was awarded Cinekid Lion Youth Jury Award for Best Youth Film. The audience favourites were also announced today, after two weeks of voting by the general public. The Best Children’s Film was awarded to the Norwegian film The Crossing by Johanne Helgeland and Best Dutch Children’s Film was awarded to the documentary Amira by Elza Jo Tratlehner.

Turning to the small screen, the Cinekid Lions for Best Dutch Fiction Series and Best Dutch Non-Fiction Series were given to War Stories by David Cocheret (broadcaster EO) and to Baking with Bunnies by Charlotte Hoogakker (broadcaster VPRO).

Cinekid 2020 was a hybrid event for the public and was presented solely online for professionals. The online platform Cinekid Play will remain active, with continually updated content.
