The family film MIJN BIJZONDER RARE WEEK MET TESS has been nominated for the EFA Young Audience Award 2020 (YAA).
Steven Wouterlood's adventurous family film won the Cinekid Lion Audience Award (in the Best Dutch Family Film category) during Cinekid 2019 and now has a chance to win the Young Audience Award 2020. The other two nominated youth films are MIO FRATELLO RINCORRE I DINOSAURI (Spain / Italy) and ROCCA VERÄNDERT DIE WELT (Germany). On Sunday 26 April, these three films will be shown simultaneously to an audience of 12-14 year olds in 69 cities in 40 countries in Europe.
The Young Audience Award (YAA) is part of the European Film Awards and was created in 2012 for the young, and at the same time the future, audience of European Cinema. The category focuses on films for 12 to 14 year olds and gives them an active role in European film culture.
MIJN BIJZONDER RARE WEEK MET TESS is based on the eponymous and award-winning book by Anna Woltz and is about Sam who, during his holiday on Terschelling, decisively starts his self-made solo training. Through the encounter with Tess, who carries a great secret with him, he is drawn into an adventure that makes him realize that you should cherish your family instead of fleeing. The film not only won a prize at Cinekid, but was also nominated for a Gouden Kalf in two categories and won more than ten international prizes last year. The film has also been released in cinemas in Japan, Canada and Denmark, among others.
MIJN BIJZONDER RARE WEEK MET TESS can currently be seen on CineMember, Pathé Thuis, Ziggo, iTunes, Google Play and KPN.
