Enter the one and only film competition for young filmmakers and win!

Every year, Cinekid Festival offers the most exciting tv series, films and other digital media from all around the world. But there's one thing: almost all of them are made by adults. And we know that kids are just as capable in making amazing films. That's why six years ago we started with film competition Shorts by Kids.

Every year you can send in your self made film with a previously determined theme. This year's theme is: Hello World. How do you see the world and your place in it? What is your fantasy? Do you share your personal stories on YouTube? And your moves on TikTok? Do you learn about other people’s lives through films from all the different corners of our planet; films that show that we’re all different but somehow have the same questions and dreams? With Hello World you get to travel the globe through the most exciting, beautiful and unexpected films, tv shows, interactive art and games. These media always broaden your horizon and stimulate fantasies. Hello World also puts you in the spotlight, so show the world who you are, share your talents and find your friends!

So basically, your options are endless. It's about how you see the world. Your own world, that of others, but it's also a great excuse to visualize your perfect fantasy planet. Let us see the world through your eyes.

If you submit your film for the 6th Shorts by Kids competition, you might get a chance to be selected, which means that your film will be screened in a cinema theater during the Cinekid Festival 2019 in Amsterdam. During this screening a professionals jury will be present. The three best shorts will be published on the websites of Cinekid, Zapp Echt Gebeurd and Kidsweek. The winning filmmaker will go home with the Cinekid Shorts by Kids Award and a great prize! We'll keep the latter secret for now.

Are you enthusiastic and 14 years old or younger? Don't wait any longer; record a film with a maximum of 3 minutes, upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and send the link to Feel free to send your additional questions to Berit van Lier, through The deadline is Monday 30 September.
