We invite you to submit interactive art and design projects for the upcoming MediaLab.
The call offers an opportunity to become part of the children's media festival and reach out to an international audience and network of media experts. Submissions for the 2019 Cinekid Festival digital culture programme and the 2019 Cinekid Media Awards are now closed.
The general categories are Interactive Installations, Digital Design, Game & App Design, Digital Media Art and Hybrid Art. Submissions should be recently completed, and/or in development to be completed in October, projects of excellent artistic quality and befitting the festivals young audience. Cinekid welcomes submissions from international artists, designers, students and collectives and prefers projects that, if selected, would be shown for the first time in the Netherlands.
Winners are awarded the coveted Golden Lion Award and an opportunity to showcase their project in the MediaLab at the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam. The MediaLab, a 1200 m2 exhibition with interactive artworks, games and workshops, focuses on interactive and digital art projects and designs about contemporary visual culture. Additionally, MediaLab projects will be on display throughout the country with Cinekid On Tour.
Cinekid is one of the world’s oldest and most respected film, television and digital culture festivals for children. Yearly, the festival counts over 70,000 visits. During the festival week over 700 professionals, including partner festivals, producers, broadcasters, distributors, agents, curators and artists visit Amsterdam. The 33rd edition will take place from 19 to 25 October. Besides the MediaLab and film and tv screenings, Cinekid offers an extensive programme of workshops and masterclasses.
All selected projects are considered for a Golden Lion Award. A selection of artists and designers will be invited as guest of the festival and as keynote speakers at the international Cinekid for Professionals programme.
For further information on submitting a project please be in touch with Ward Janssen, Head of Digital Culture, at email@example.com.
